Recent news has been released that Superior Court Judge Judith Hayes has granted the Petition for Writ of Mandate filed by SOHO last summer to challenge the City's pre-commitment to a new bridge and paid parking in Balboa Park. Judge Hayes' ruling concludes by stating: "Here [the City's] actions preclude meaningful analysis and consideration of project alternatives and mitigation measures, as well as deny the public meaningful input and trust in the process." The ruling is available here
Meetings provide information about upcoming land use issues and a forum for dialogue related to various land use and development issues. Discussion topics may originate from the City, from residents and business owners or from applicants with projects who are seeking input as part of the permit process. We welcome you to join us.
The Uptown Planner board members provide advisory recommendations to the City regarding land use and projects in the community and are recognized by the City as an important part of the approval process for discretionary projects (those that request variances to the building code or zoning) and new development. Your participation helps our board members represent a wide range of views and helps influence the quality of life in our community. Your participation is especially important as we engage in the process of a community plan update.
Additionally, each meeting provides access to area representatives and they present issues of the day as part of the agenda. We invite you to participate in our monthly meetings.
The Uptown Planners Community Planning Committee meets the first Tuesday of each month (except January and July) starting at 6:00 PM. Meetings are held at: The Joyce Beers Center. or at Alice Birney Elementary School Auditorium. Check the agenda for the location.
There is a lot more information here about this group and our meetings.
